Hitler youth proficiency award in bonze, marked.

Nice example, fairly lightweight with a slightly burnished, semi-matte obverse bronze finish. The badge depicts the arrow-shaped “Tiwaz” Rune (also known as the “Tir” rune) - in essence, the runic symbol for the “T” sound - but also representing the Norse God of War, “Tyr” (associated with “victory”). A ring-shaped, flat band intersects the rune and bears the inscription “FÜR LEISTUNGEN IN DER H.J.” (“For Proficiency in the HJ”) in raised letters purposely designed with a runic look to them. The badge is in nice condition though with a scratch across the arrowhead; the burnished inscription background gives the letters great relief. The reverse is in fine condition with nearly all of its dark toned bronze wash. It is RZM marked, with the maker code M1/63. The pin is in excellent condition and functions well (good tension). Solid example.
