The MG15 was a universal machine gun which came with a number of mounts and accessories. It was classified as a heavy machine gun when mounted on a tripod (Lafette 34). When used with the Lafette 34, only belt feeding was used since the basket drum could not be attached. When used as an antiaircraft weapon, the MG34 used an adapter which fit on the Lafette 34, or on a separate anti-aircraft tripod (Dreifuss 34). In the pre-war and early war years, a 75-round saddle drum (Patronentrommel 34) was utilized in conjunction with a special receiver cover. The drum is well marked with the manufacturer´s code and date "1938". Rare MG34 item.
